Feminine Identity and Theories of the Intra/Inter
National Subject:
La Vie rêvée and Anne Trister
Jean Bruce
Ryerson University
Abstract
This essay argues that La vie rêvée
(Mireille Dansereau, 1972) and Anne Trister (Léa
Pool, 1986) are historically significant cinematic texts that engage
a number of critical issues concerning women and representation,
namely the problems of constructing a feminine/feminist artistic
practice, nationalism and sexual subjectivity in Québec.
